Dear Anglers,

The San Diego Team Series held the 2nd EL Cajon Ford Day Series tournament at El Capitan on Saturday March 22, 2014. We had a field of 35 teams that came to fish with some of San Diego finest competitors. We had another great group of anglers at this event and everything ran very smooth with no complaints. We had signups at 5:00am with coffee and donuts at the top Cabana. The weather was overcast for most of the day with highs in 60’s and fish spawning all over the lake.

Once again, we had another excellent tournament with some giant stringers of bass throughout the field. This tournament produced two limits of bass that weighed over 20lbs with top ten needing at least 15lbs of fish to cash a check. We had 175 bass weighed for a total weight of 483.20lbs with an average weight per team of 13.42lbs. We have to say, El Capitan is still fishing lights out and the fish are big and beautiful. The weigh-ins went very smoothly and we were able to get all the anglers off the water, fed, paid and head home with 1-hour after the last team weighing in. The BBQ was very delicious with catered Mexican food from Angels Taco for all the anglers to enjoy at the awards ceremony courtesy of El Cajon Ford.

The winners of the 2nd tournament went to Jon and Wade Strelic with a five bass limit that weighted 22.62LBS with second big bass of the tournament of 8.51lb. The Father and Son team took home $2,600.00 for their 1st place finish and a ABU Garcia Rod & Reel valued at $350.00 for their second big bass. Good job boys with the win and we will see you at the next event.

Second Place went to Matt Menzel and Mathew Purcell with a five bass limit that weighted 21.42LBs with the big bass of the tournament of 9.85lb. Menzel and Purcell took home $1,100.00 for their 2nd place finish plus $500.00 for their big bass for a total winnings of $1,600.00 for the day. Nice job boys you have a gift for bring in some big fish as this is not the first tournament they have weighed a 9lb plus fish.

Third place went to Stu Hinkle and Ed Woods with a five bass limit that weighted 18.07lbs with the 3rd Big Bass of the Tournament that weighed of 7.33lbs. Hinkle & Woods took home $560.00 for the their 3rd place finish and an ABU Garcia Rod and Reel Combo for their 3rd Big Bass of the Tournament. Hinkle and Woods are in 3rd Place in the Year to Date standings with their solid finish this weekend.
