Dear Anglers,

The EL Cajon Ford Day Series held its 4th team tournament event at El Capitan on Saturday May 4, 2013. We had a field of 36 teams that came to fish with some of San Diego’s Top Anglers. We had signups at 4:30am with coffee and donuts. The weather was sunny all day with 30 MPH winds in the afternoon that made for some good fishing conditions for the teams that fished.

Over all, we had another excellent tournament with some very nice stringers of bass throughout the field given the post spawn conditions. The weigh-ins went very smoothly and we were able to get all the anglers off the water, fed, paid and head home with 1-hour after the last team weighing in. The BBQ was very delicious with catered food from BBQ Pit for all the anglers to enjoy after the weigh-ins.

The winners of the El Cajon Ford Day Series went to Tom Leedom and Matt Menzel with 5 bass limit that weighed 28.29lbs with the big bass of the tournament of 7.30lbs. Tom & Matt took home $ 3,200.00 for first place finish and their giant stringer. Tom and Matt have had an awesome season to date with weighing in more than 105lb in the last four tournaments. Leedom and Menzel are currently in first place in the year to date standings and have been the team to beat this season.

Second place went to Justin Hanold and Kevin Norling with 5 bass limit that weighed 19.60lbs with a big bass of 4.56lbs. Justin & Kevin home a nice payday of $1,190.00 for their 2nd place finish. Hanold and Norling are in second place in the year to date standings as they have been a tuff team beat this season.

Third Place went to Adam Hinkle and Jesse Hinkley with 5 bass limit that weighed 18.53lbs with a big bass of 5.56Lbs. Adam and Jesse took home $595.00 for their third place finish. Hinkle and Hinkley are currently sitting in fourth place in the year to date standings with their solid finish today.

We would like to thank all the teams that participated in the tournament today and supporting the El Cajon Ford Series. The new day series has been very fun for all the anglers that have fished our events. We have had outstanding tournament participation so far this season, which is largely due to the great sponsorships that have supported this event and make our new series possible. At the raffle, we gave away over $1,000.00 worth of prizes that are donated by our great sponsors. We can not thank our sponsor enough for the dedication and support that you have shown our series.
We would like to thank East County Bait and Tackle for their donation of the fishing reel that was given to Chris Patek for the 3rd Big Bass of the tournament. ECBT also gave us several hats and $100.00 dollars worth of gift certificated to be used at their store. Thank you ECBT for your support of the series this means the world to SDTS as well as the anglers that won the prizes.

We would like to thank Lakeside Bait and Tackle for their donation of $100.00 of gift certificates that we raffled off at the award. Thanks Diane for your continue support of the El Cajon Ford Event we appreciate the support and we hope the anglers spend there gift certificates wisely.

We would like to thank Anglers Marine for their support of the new series with donation of fishing apparel and a $50.00 dollar Gift Certificate that we raffle off at the awards. Thanks Art Bailey and Rick Grover for their contribution to the series and the fishing community as they have always looked out for San Diego Team Series and the El Cajon Ford Events.

We would like to thank John Cassidy fro Anglers Arsenal his donation of (2) $50 dollar gift certificate toward the El Cajon Ford 2-Day tournament in August. The winners of the gift certificates went to Stu Hinkle and Ronny Mink. Thanks John for the donation as we are sure these fisherman will be glad to have entry fee discounted for the 2-day event.

We would like to thank Chris Marso from ABU Garcia for the his donations of the ABU Garcia Rod Reel Combo value at $300.00 for the Second Big Bass which went to the Jason Clar for his big bass of 6.65lb. Chris also donated a several hundred dollars worth of fishing product that we raffle off. Chris Marso has always been a big supporter of the El Cajon Ford Events and we cannot thank him enough for his support and generosity.

We would like to thank Sleight Consultants Inc. for the Trophy Donation as the plaques were top notch and we appreciate the donation and the support of the series. If you are planning to remodel your home please give them a call as they are ready to help you with your project from plans to turn key.

We want to thank Paul Leader and John Blake from El Cajon Ford for their support of the San Diego Team Series. Without their support of El Cajon Ford, the Day Series tournament would not be possible and we can’t thank these two individuals enough for all that they do for the bass fishing community and San Diego Team Series. If you looking for new or used car/truck please stop by EL Cajon Ford they will take care of you. Please keep in mind that El Cajon ford has the Quick Lane department, so if you are in need of an oil changed or new tires, you can stop by and they can get this done while you wait. For more information regarding El Cajon Ford Delarship please visit their website at www.elcajonford.com or give them a call at (619) 579-8888.

In closing, our tournaments require a special staff and great sponsorship in order to be organized and conducted properly. Without our sponsors and our dedicated staff, we could not run the best circuit in San Diego. We would like to give a special thanks to our staff members for their continued support and dedication to the events, otherwise, we could operate such a smoothly run event.

Once again thanks to the teams that came out, we had great time, fast weigh-in, and great BBQ to end the day.

Next month tournament will be June 8, 2013 at Lake Otay. Please note, we have changed this tournament from lake Hodges to Lake Otay due to low water conditions. We hope to see another great turnout as we enter our 5th tournament of the season. We should have another great tournament so come ready to have great day on the lake with a good group of anglers.
