Dear Anglers,

The EL Cajon Ford Day Series held its inaugural team tournament event at Lake El Capitan on Saturday February 9, 2013. The field of 36 teams was stacked with some of San Diego's top fisherman ready to duel it out for top honors.

The winners of the first event went to Tom Leedom and Matt Menzel with 5 giant fish that weighed 34.31 LBS with a 8.57 LB big fish. This team took home $ 2700.00 for first and $500.oo for big for a total winning of $3,200.00. Congratulations Tom and Matt you have spectacular day and epic weight for 5 fish.

Second place went to Klayton Blendon and Paul Lead with 5 bass limit that weighed 20.30 Lbs with a 4.41 Lb big bass. Mr. Leader and his grandson took home $1,200.00 for the day effort. We want to give a special thanks to Mr. Leader for his efforts to make this series possible as well as congratulate him on his good day of fishing. Good job Paul and Klayton.

Third Place went to Martin Keppeler and Ryan Romero with 5 bass limit that weighed 20.21 LBS and big bass of 4.60 Lbs. Martin and Ryan took home $570.00 for their day work. Unfortunately, they did not have any big fish but a solid five fish limit.

We would like to thank all the teams that participated in the tournament today as there were lots of big fish caught and some extremely big bags being weighed. We would like to thank the sponsors of Fishing Marine Center for their Trophy Donation as the plaques were top notch and we appreciate the donation.

We would like to thank East County Bait and Tackle for their Phenix Rod donation for the 3rd Big Fish and the $200.00 dollars worth of gift certificated for the raffle. Thank you ECBT for your support of the series this means the world to SDTS.

We would like to thank Lakeside Bait and tackle for their donation of $100.oo of gift certificates that we raffled off. Thanks Diane for your continue support of the El Cajon Ford Event we appreciate the support and we hope the anglers spend there donations wisely.

We would like to thank Chris Marso from Pure Fishing for the his donations of the ABU Garcia Rod Reel Combo value at $300.00 for the Second Big Bass which went to Stephan Patek. Chris has always been a big support of the El Cajon Ford Events and we cannot thank him enough for his support and generosity

The awards ceremony concluded with a raffle for some great prizes from our sponsors, and the tournament champs telling everyone how they caught their fish since they seem to on fish that no else tries to fish for.

Lastly, We want to thank Paul Leader and John Blake from El Cajon Ford for their support in the San Diego Team Series Bass Fishing Event. Without the support of the El Cajon Ford Day Series tournament would not be possible and we can’t thank these two individuals enough for all that they do for bass fishing as well as the community. If you looking for new or used car/truck please stop by EL Cajon Ford they will take care of you. For the full results and images of the tournament please visit www.sdteamseries.com and click on the day series and on the right side you will see the links for the results and photo gallery. Once again thanks to the teams that came out we had great time, fast weigh-in, and great BBQ by the BBQ pit to end the day.

These tournaments require a special staff and great sponsors in order to be organized and run properly. Without these sponsors and my dedicated staff, we could not run the best circuit in San Diego. We would like to give a special thanks to my staff members for their continued support and dedication to the events

1. Weight Master - Woody Olson
2. Scale – Scott Ashley
3. Fish Biologist – Larry Botroff
4. Check-in Boat – Ron Overman
5. Photos and Staff Assistant - Regina Seaberg

Next month tournament will be March 9, 2013 at Lake Otay. We hope to see another great turnout and better fishing as enter into spawn time for the bass. We should have some serious weight so be prepare and come ready to have great day on the lake.
