Dear Anglers,

The El Cajon Ford “Night Series” held its Tournament of Champions this past Saturday night. We had 27 qualifying teams present to fish for the grand prize money. We started the night off with a fantastic BBQ from the BBQ Pit with ribs and chicken dinner for the anglers chow down on before they fished. We congratulated the Anglers of the Year Jacob Erpelding and Morgan Holbrook for a spectacular year by giving them AOY Plaques (WOOD) to show their accomplishment as well as custom wrapped rods by KN Custom (Kevin Norling). Great job guys on the year and your great accomplishment this was had season and tough group of anglers that competed.

We had an awesome raffle before the event with donations from East County Bait tackle from apparel, to hats, to beanies and gift cards. Honestly, every team took home a prize which is unheard of. Please tell Gene Estabrook from East County Bait & Tackle thanks when you stop by their shop for support of the series and the fishing community. They have gone over an above supporting our series and the angler should be thrilled at all the great prizes they walked away with.

Well, we had another exciting championship with the teams bringing to scales some awesome fish and gigantic weights. This series has been very tough especially with El Capitan continuing to kick out 19lb bags on regular basis this season. We had three fish over 8LBS which made all the team work to produce a good sack. We had 81 fish weighed for a total weight of 327.75lbs. The average fish per team 4.05lb which is pretty awesome.

The Tournament of Champions for the 2013 Season goes to Tony Richards & Rich Welch. This team had 19.69lbs with a kicker bass of 7.38lb. Richards & Welch took home $ 5,000.00 for the first place finish.

Second Place went to Todd Holverson and Jason Sleight with 18.34lbs with a kicker bass of 8.92lbs. Holveson and Sleight took home $2,500.00 for their second place finish.

Third place went Jacob Erpelding and Morgan Holbrook with 18.23lbs with a kicker bass of 7.72lb. Erpelding and Holbrook took home $1,250.00 for their third place finish.

Fourth Place went to Jeff Bauler and Ian Hudson with 17.95lbs with a kicker bass of 9.41lbs. Bauler and Hudson took home $ 850.00 for the fourth place finish.

Fifth place went to Matt Menzel and Matthew Purcell with 16.41lbs with the big bass of the tournament of 9.94lbs. Menzel and Purcell took home $425.00 for their place finish and $500.00 for the big bass of the event for a total take home of $925.00.

We would like to thank all the teams that participated in the night series events and supporting the El Cajon Ford Series. We have had outstanding tournament participation this season averaging 56.5 Teams per event, which is largely due to the great sponsorships of El Cajon Ford and the Local Tackle shops that have supported our events making this series possible.

We would like to give a special thanks to Anglers Marine, Lakeside Bait and Tackle and East County Bait and Tackle for their collective donation of $2,100.00 for the Tournament of Champions. Without our local sponsorship, we could not provide the best night series in town. Please tell them thanks when you visit their stores for their support of El Cajon Ford Series. These tournament sponsor have made this season extra special by allowing us to payback more money than was generated during the season.

We want to thank Paul Leader and John Blake from El Cajon Ford for their support in the San Diego Team Series. Without their support, the El Cajon Ford Night Series tournament would not even be possible and we can’t thank these two individuals enough for all that they do for the bass fishing community.

If you looking for new or used car/truck please stop by EL Cajon Ford they will take care of you. Please keep in mind that El Cajon ford has the Quick Lane Department, so if you need your oil changed or a new set of tires you can stop by and they will get this done while you wait. For more information regarding El Cajon Ford please visit their website at www.elcajonford.com.

These tournaments require a special staff in order to be organized and conducted properly. Without our dedicated staff, we could not produce the best circuit in San Diego. We would like to give a special thanks to our staff members for their continued support and dedication to our events.
