Dear Anglers,

The El Cajon Ford “Night Series” held its 3rd team tournament event at Lower Otay on Saturday June 22, 2013. We had a field of 54 teams that came to fish with some of San Diego’s Top Anglers. We had signups at 4:30PM with a catered BBQ from the Barbeque Pit with some delicious Texas Style Beef & Ham Sandwiches. The weather was nice with clear skies and bright full moon at the start of the event. The cloud cover rolled in around 10PM and the skies became dark which made the fisherman work to produce a good limit.

Over all, an excellent tournament with some nice largemouth bass being caught. We had 155 fish caught with a total weight 429.82lbs. The average weight per team was 7.81lbs.

The winners of the El Cajon Ford Night Series went to Michael Golubski & Larry Thomas with 3 bass limit that weighed 16.13lbs with a 6.24lbs kicker bass. Michael & Larry home $ 3,500.00 for first place finish and their giant stringer.

Second place went to Jesse Hinkley & Kyle Rodgers with 3 bass limit that weighed 14.86lbs with the big bass of 6.46lb. Jesse & Kyle took home a nice payday of $1,500.00 for their 2nd place finish.

Third Place went to Martin Keppeler & Will Larson with 3 bass limit that weighed 14.03lbs with a 6.55lbs with a kicker bass. Martin & Will took home $700.00 for their third place finish.

The big bass of the tournament went to the team of Art Bailey and Pat Walden with 6.87lb large mouth that was worth $500.00. Bailey & Walden finished in 5th place and took home $500.00 for their 5th finish and $500.00 for the big bass for a total payday of $1,000.00. Nice job Art and Pat for the big fish.

We would like to thank all the teams that participated in the tournament and supporting the El Cajon Ford Series. So far, the night series has been very fun and enjoyable for all the anglers that have fished our events. We have had outstanding tournament participation so far this season, which is largely due to the great sponsorships that have supported our event and make this series possible. Anglers Marine, Lakeside Bait and Tackle and East County Bait and Tackle have donated a total of $2,100.00 for the Tournament of Champions. With our local sponsors, we could not provide the best series in town. Please tell them thanks when you visit their stores for their support of El Cajon Ford Series.

Since the Night Tournament Participation has been so high, we have decided to change the TOC qualifications in order to include more teams in the TOC fishoff. Therefore, we are going to use the same format as the Day Series where we will take the Top 10 Teams as well as additional qualifying teams based on total number of team entries for the season. Please see the night tournament rules at www.sdteamseries.com for a full breakdown on how the additional teams will be selected.

Most Importantly, we are going to GUARANTEE $15,000.00 in Prize Money for the Tournament of Champions (TOC) Fish off. John Blake and Paul Leader of El Cajon Ford have decided to contribute additional prize money to the TOC since the participation levels have been great and they want to show there appreciation to the fisherman and too the series. When you have a great sponsor like EL Cajon Ford this is the way they give back. Thank you John and Paul you guys are the best and the fisherman will be ecstatic that they will have additional money contributed to FREE TOC Championship Fish off at the end of the Season.

We want to thank Paul Leader and John Blake from El Cajon Ford for their support in the San Diego Team Series. Without their support, the El Cajon Ford Night Series tournament would not even be possible and we can’t thank these two individuals enough for all that they do for the bass fishing community.

If you looking for new or used car/truck please stop by EL Cajon Ford they will take care of you. Please keep in mind that El Cajon ford has the Quick Lane department so if you need you oil changed or new tires you can stop by and they can get this done while you wait. For more information regarding El Cajon Ford please visit their website at www.elcajonford.com.

These tournaments require a special staff and great sponsors in order to be organized and conducted properly. Without our sponsors and our dedicated staff, we could not run the best circuit in San Diego. We would like to give a special thanks to our staff members for their continued support and dedication to the events

2. Scale – Scott Ashley
3. Fish Biologist – Larry Botroff

For the full results and images of the this tournament please visit our website at www.sdteamseries.com and click on the night series and on the right side you will see the links for the results/standings and the photo gallery. Once again thanks to the teams that came out we had great time, fast weigh-in, and a great BBQ.

Next month tournament will be July 27, 2013 at Lake Otay. We hope to see another great turnout as we enter our 4th tournament of the season. We should have some serious weight so come ready to have great day on the lake.
